Morpeth Area, Chatham Kent – 2011
As a result of erosion near the lake this cottage was relocated due to necessity. With the 100’ tall bank eroding at approximately 2’ per year, the cottage was becoming dangerously close to falling over the bank. The owners saved this building from impending doom by rolling it over 200’ away from the bank. This is the second time in 20 years this home has been lifted. Since the chimney was recently re-constructed, it retained enough structural integrity/stability to move with the cottage with no ill effects.
